About Maritime Institute of Technology & Graduate Studies (MITAGS West)

MITAGS West is the Pacific Northwest campus of the Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies, a long-established USCG-approved institution serving professional mariners across the United States and beyond. The Seattle facility delivers a comprehensive range of STCW-compliant training programmes, from foundational Basic Safety Training through to advanced deck officer licence progression courses at the 200-, 500- and 3,000-tonne level.

Programmes at MITAGS West span safety and emergency response, GMDSS communications, shiphandling simulation, medical care and leadership and management for maritime officers. The institute's courses satisfy USCG licensing requirements alongside STCW-2010 standards, making it a recognised destination for mariners pursuing US credentials or maintaining existing endorsements through refresher and revalidation training.

Seattle's location on the Puget Sound — one of the most active maritime regions in the United States — makes MITAGS West a natural base for deck officers and crew working in Pacific Northwest waters, the wider US West Coast trade, or offshore and superyacht sectors requiring internationally recognised safety certification.
