About Irish Offshore Sailing

Irish Offshore Sailing is a dedicated maritime training school based at Dun Laoghaire, operating as an RYA Recognised Training Centre and affiliated with Irish Sailing (ISA). The school offers a comprehensive progression ladder for both recreational sailors and those pursuing professional qualifications, from introductory Start Yachting sessions right through to the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore Commercial qualification.

The practical programme spans Competent Crew, Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper, and Yachtmaster Offshore Preparation, while a parallel shorebased theory track covers Day Skipper Theory and Yachtmaster Theory — available both in the classroom and as online courses for flexible study. The school also offers the one-day RYA VHF Radio (SRC) course, available in person or online, providing the Short Range Certificate required to operate marine VHF radio.

Situated on Dublin Bay, Dun Laoghaire is one of Ireland's premier sailing centres, making it an ideal location to develop seamanship skills in tidal coastal waters with access to offshore passages.
