Metro Line 3 (Blue) runs directly from the airport to Piraeus in approximately 60 minutes. Express bus X96 runs 24/7 every 20 minutes and takes approximately 90 minutes; fare €5.50. Taxi takes 70–80 minutes and costs approximately €57 during the day.
Piraeus Metro Station is served by Metro Line 1 (Green), connecting directly to central Athens (Monastiraki/Omonia) in 20–30 minutes for €1.20, and Metro Line 3 (Blue), which provides a direct link to Athens International Airport. Search ferry routes →Piraeus is approximately 10 km southwest of central Athens via the coastal Poseidonos Avenue or the urban Pireos Street. From the A1/E75 motorway, follow signs for Piraeus port. Journey from Athens city centre is typically 20–40 minutes depending on traffic. Paid car parks are available in central Piraeus and near the port; street parking is limited.
Open in Maps →Piraeus is extremely well connected. The Metro is the easiest and cheapest transfer from Athens city centre and the airport. The port is one of the largest and busiest in Europe; arriving early is advisable during peak summer season as departures are frequent but gates can be spread across a large terminal area. Ferry booking in advance is strongly recommended June–September.
