The training directory is ordered for crew, not for schools. This page explains exactly how the order is decided, and what plays no part in it.
Pick a course and you only see schools offering that exact course. When you browse without a filter, the certificates most crew need first, such as STCW Basic Safety Training and the ENG1 medical, appear before niche courses.
Schools with a confirmed upcoming date rank ahead of those without one, and the soonest date sorts first.
If you choose to share your location, nearby schools group ahead of distant ones. Location sharing is optional and never required.
When two results are otherwise equal on everything above, the school that has confirmed its listing details, shown by the ✓ Verified badge, appears first. Verification is free, open to every provider, and never paid. It signals accurate listing data. It is not an endorsement and cannot lift a school above a more relevant result.
We also cap any single school at two consecutive cards, so no provider can monopolise the first screen.
Listing in the directory is free. No school can pay to be listed higher, and commission plays no part in directory ordering.
